About CATS Cambridge

CATS Cambridge is an independent boarding and day college on the High Street in Chesterton, just north of central Cambridge. It teaches students aged 14 to 18 and is a member of CIFE, the professional association for independent sixth form colleges. The college quotes an average class size of 11, which sits between the very small group teaching of the London tutorial colleges and a conventional school sixth form. Alongside A-Levels it runs GCSE, Pre-A Level and University Foundation Programme routes, so students joining from overseas have a path in at several different points. The A-Level range is strongest in the sciences, mathematics and economics, and the language offer is unusual: Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish are all taught, reflecting an international intake. Accommodation is purpose built, with single and double en-suite bedrooms on campus and house parents available. Tuition and accommodation are charged separately, so the headline fee is not the full cost for a boarding student.
